Coughing Up Congress

GOP Advisory by: Bill@thePoliticalProphet.com

Years ago while teaching campaign opps to GOP Congressional hopefuls around the country, I always explained that a tiny light could give life or bring death to any election effort. The light being referenced was, of course, the on/off red light that shines on the front of a TV camera when it is in use. Political futures can soar or crash almost instantly as a direct result of what is said or done when that red light is on.

It is true that the camera adds about 10 pounds to a person’s appearance but it serves as a magnifier in other ways as well. If you are a jerk in person, you are a REAL jerk through the lens of a TV camera unless you are a professional actor or news anchor. Slightly stupid comes off as the village idiot. Sneaky Pete shows as truly Terrible Tom, etc.

I should have done a refresher course for the dumbbells on the House Judiciary Committee before their televised hearing this week with A.G. Jeff Sessons.

This is not the most delightful assemblage of imbeciles anyway and almost without exception they got “Magnified” big time on camera. It is no wonder voter approval of Congress is at an all time low. Eventually even Members of Congress become accountable for consistently bad behavior-especially when they repeat it for the cameras.

Even one of my favorites, Cong. Jim Jordan, allowed his frustration to come through as strident and harsh rather than firm and determined. GOP Members, as a group, were not much better than their Democrat counterparts.

Folks, it just ain’t about you. In fact, compared to the mission for America, you really are not very important. Judging from your TV performance last week, there are hundreds of folks in your district who can do the job better than you are doing. Instead of us trying to change your attitude, maybe wholesale replacement of incumbents is the best solution.
